Larrngudu – Wild Peach (Garrwa) – 2020
Paintings – Acrylic on Canvas – 40 x 40 cm (pre-stretched)
Larrngudu is a traditional bush food for Garrwa and Gudanji people. It grows on flat, sandy country and tastes a bit like a peach. Around August the woman look for this food and harvest the sweet, ripe fruit. Senior Garrwa women around Borroloola are still very active in harvesting bush tucker foods and often go out on country to collect these foods and also to teach younger women.
