Family – the centre of it all. – 2021
Paintings – Acrylic on Canvas – 91 x 122 cm
Family is central to everything in aboriginal culture.
This painting shows the four language groups, Garrwa, Yanyuwa, Marra and Gudanji – it shows how we are linked by our skin groups.
These skin groups determine where we fit into the four clan groups -Mambaliya, Wurdaliya, Wiyaliya and Rrumburriya.
These clan groups are our family connections with each other, and govern all sorts of things such as who we marry and who our cultural leaders and teachers will be.
