Navigation by the Stars – 2021
Paintings – Acrylic on Canvas – 30 x 30 cm (pre-stretched)
In the old days when Dugong hunters were out at sea until nightfall, they would look up to the sky for the stars to navigate their way home.
When they got close to shore they would blow a horn made from a shell. This would let the people in their camp know that they were back safe and also remind them to light a fire and get ready to cook the food that they had gathered.
