Coral Reef – Yanyuwa Story – 2021
Paintings – Acrylic on Canvas – 91 x 91 cm
Coral Reefs are all around Yanyuwa Country. They are like underwater flower gardens. These reefs appear often in the artwork of Yanyuwa people, as they form an important part of the saltwater story. Harvesting food from the sea around the Sir Edward Pellow Islands has always been an important part of survival for Yanyuwa people and even today fishing using very simple hook and line methods is part of everyday life.
