Stories around the Camp Fire – 2021
Paintings – Acrylic on Canvas – 30 x 30 cm (pre-stretched)
Gathering around the camp fire means so many things for our people.
We cook food, stay warm in the cold, dry season and we keep our history and culture alive.
This is a time when important stories are told – all of our histories, right back to the dream-time. This is how we make sure we will always be connected to our country, our people, our dreamings.
In the old days we gathered like this and we still do – all around Borroloola in our town camps and out bush on our homelands. When the sun starts to go down, the fires are lit and we come together the same way we always have.
