Water Liliy is a traditional food for Yanyuwa and Garrwa people. It can be found in the water holes and lagoons all around the Gulf Region and is edible in many ways. The seeds are ground up to make damper flour, and the stalks and leaves are an edible vegetable.
The inside part of the stalk is a lot like celery and the the roots are cooked like a potato.
